How we build it

How a backyard build runs

  1. Walk the yard

    We look at grade, drainage, sun and access, and ask how you actually use the space.

  2. Plan and permit

    A scaled plan with materials.

  3. Locates and dig

    Utility locates booked through Ontario One Call, then excavation for footings, bases and walls.

  4. Structure

    Footings, deck framing and retaining walls, with drainage in place before backfill.

  5. Surfaces

    Decking, interlock and railings installed.

  6. Finish and clean up

    Sod, beds and final grading, and the site raked clean.

In most of our cities you need one for a deck attached to the house, or any deck more than 60 cm above grade. We check your city's rules, draw the plans and book the inspections.

Pressure-treated costs less and can be stained, but it needs maintenance every couple of years. Composite costs more up front, needs no staining and won't splinter.

Almost always a base problem: not enough gravel, not compacted in lifts, or water getting underneath. We lift the pavers, fix the base and relay them, reusing the pavers if they're in good shape.
