Site visit and layout
We mark out the shape, check the grade with a level, and note downspouts and window wells that affect drainage.
Utility locates
Locates are booked through Ontario One Call before any digging.
Excavate and base
Dig out to firm soil, lay Granular A and compact it in lifts.
Forms and pour
Forms set with slope away from the house, reinforcement placed, concrete poured and finished.
Joints and cure
Control joints cut, then the slab is kept damp and covered while it cures.
Seal and hand over
Sealer once cured, and a care sheet about salt and snow removal.

Poured concrete costs less up front and lasts for decades if it is air-entrained and placed on a properly compacted base. Interlock costs more, but single pavers can be lifted and relaid if the ground settles, and it does not crack the way a slab can.
Light foot traffic is usually fine after a day or two, and furniture after about a week. Concrete keeps gaining strength for around 28 days, so keep heavy loads off until then.
Concrete shrinks as it cures, so some cracking is normal. Control joints decide where it cracks: in a straight line at the joint instead of across the slab.
